MANY HERBS NATURALLY REPEL MOSQUITOES.
You’ve likely heard of citronella, but did you know that essential oils of lemongrass, cedarwood, basil, eucalyptus, lavender, peppermint, rosemary and thyme also deter them? You can cut down on the mosquitoes in your garden by planting these herbs and even garlic, onions, and marigolds around your patio or deck.
Choice has a variety of natural insect repellents available such as Still Pure’s Mozzie & Miggie spray and Beautiful Earth’s Insect Repellent made from a natural blend of Peppermint, Lemongrass, Lavender & Geranium essential oils.
In addition to growing the herbs, throw some on the braai as burning herbs whilst you are braai-ing can significantly reduce mosquito infestation during the evening or hang a Lavender Sachet or Lavender Scented Heart outside to repel bugs.
If you have an old mosquito repellent plug in device – cut an orange peel to the exact size of the rectangular inserts normally used in the mosquito plug-in device. Then, use the peel in place of the insert. Your home smells great when you use an orange peel mosquito repellent and stays mosquito free. Plus, you won’t have to worry about breathing in toxic chemicals.
